Aviation engineering college launched

Aviation Baba Engineering College (AEC), a venture of
Aviation Baba Aero Services Private Limited, is offering four new
courses - B.Tech in aeronautical engineering, B.Sc. in aircraft
maintenance engineering, Bachelor in Mass Communication and Journalism,
and Bachelor in Fashion Technology, from the academic year 2012-13,
according to AEC chief executive officer Anshu Chaudhary.
Addressing
a press conference here on Monday, she said the main objective of the
college was to train students and promote the knowledge of aeronautical
science to make a career in aeronautics and to meet an ever increasing
demand of competent engineers and technocrats for executing various
industrial projects in public and private sectors in India and abroad.
AEC
director S. Mishra said the college provides experienced faculty and
well equipped laboratories apart from inviting guest lecturers in the
subject from aeronautic firms.
The college is affiliated to Singhania University in Rajasthan being run by the Rajasthan government.
Students, who study the degree for 4 years will have exposure to a year's industry experience.
The
course comprises lateral integration of a wide variety of knowledge
disciplines and regular industry visits and annual internships.

Addressing
a press conference here on Tuesday, director of Rachnoutsav Sanjay
Kankaria said that to meet the growing demand of the market and to pool
the expertise required for the burgeoning profession, a full time
curriculum with integrated learning program has been designed.
The
academy plans to set up five centres including one in the City of
Destiny. The academy will be launching its pilot batch in Hyderabad from
July with three main courses initially.
Basic
Professional Foundation Course in Event Management (BPFCEM), Advanced
Masters Course in Event Management (AMCEM) and Advanced Masters Course
in Wedding Planning and Designing (AMCWP).
The range for the course starts from Rs.2 lakh to Rs.5 lakh.
The
course offered has more of practical orientation as event management is
all about taking owners and being proactive, explained Mr. Kankaria.
“When we started Rachnoutsav Events Pvt Limited 15 years back, event management was not as popular as it is now.
We have introduced the academy as there is a huge shortage of trained manpower in the unconventional career.

Nine killed in Vizag Steel Plant blast-the hindu
In the worst-ever accident in the history of the Visakhapatnam Steel
Plant (VSP), at least nine employees, some of them senior officers, were
killed when an oxygen tank in the steel melt shop-II exploded on
Wednesday.
Five of the injured with 90 per cent burns, along with four others, were
rushed to various hospitals in the city. The toll is likely to mount.
VSP General Manager (Projects) D.S. Khalsi is among the seriously
injured.
“The bodies were burnt beyond recognition,” INTUC leader Mantri
Rajasekhar said. The employees of VSP and M.N. Dastur and Co., the
consultant for VSP's expansion programme, were on duty. One of the
deceased was said to be of the rank of Deputy General Manager. There was
confusion over the number of dead with Gajuwaka MLA Ch. Venkataramaiah,
quoting union sources, putting the toll at 15 and Collector Lav Agarwal
confirming the death of nine. The incident took place when gas from the
newly-commissioned converter backfired. Union leaders said over 20
workers and officers were believed to have been on duty at the time of
the accident, which occurred at about 8.30 p.m. “We saw six bodies on
the spot and four more in the casualty wing of the Visakha Ukku
Hospital,” they said.
